Hello! Just made a quick trip to Trader Joe’s for the few days that I’m staying in Chicago. I’m so excited to get to shop for my groceries here every week once I move!! Below are some of my favorite things~
HOT YOGA. One of my all-time favorite workouts. Also, one of the more challenging workouts that I perform. I frequently participate in Hot Power Vinyasa. This type of class focuses on power and movement with added cardio, balance, strength, and relaxation. I love setting an intention for my practice. Doing so allows me to push through the soreness I may be feeling or the urge to just curl up into child’s pose. For example, on Tuesday, my intention was to detox my body of negative thoughts, feelings, and toxins. Today, I wanted to focus on strengthening my mental and physical health. It is so worth the sweat and work it takes to hold that Crescent Lunge to Warrior 3/(insert any other difficult sequence) though!! Listed below are only some of the benefits of hot yoga that I found online to encourage you to give it a go! Leave a comment if you have any questions!
One of my bucket list items is to go vegan for a week (or more if I so choose). I am starting to prep for this challenge and am excited to see how I feel at the end of the week/observe any changes in my physical appearance. I cut out red meat from my diet awhile back, so I currently only eat poultry and seafood. However, on this diet, there are a lot of other things that I will need to cut out. Below is a list I found from Alexandra Jamieson’s “Living Vegan for Dummies Cheat Sheet.”
I CANNOT eat:
- butter or cream
- cheese from cows or goats
- meat, poultry, lamb, or beef
- fish, shellfish, shrimp, or lobster
I CAN eat:
- all fruits
- all veggies
- all herbs & spices
- soy-based protein like tofu & tempeh
- pasta (that’s not made from eggs)
- olive oil
Recently made a healthy banana bread recipe created by one of my favorite bloggers, Jen Saviano! Here are some pics annnd the recipe of course! A MUST MAKE!
This summer I have been working 1-2 shifts/week at Jack’s Donuts and thought I would share my thoughts about the goodies. I have tried a few, but usually I just like to admire them and make little kids happy haha. Comment below if you have any questions!
Cake donuts… the blueberry, apple crisp, and birthday cake are the best ones!
Gluten/dairy/peanut free donuts!
So pumped for my move to Chicago this fall! I cannot wait to start exploring all of the theaters, parks, art exhibits, fitness studios, and eateries! In April, I began to make a list of all of the new restaurants I’ve tried (along with what I ordered, a ranking of the place, and its location) and am going to make it a goal to try out a new spot at least once a week. Below is my list so far and the additional restaurants that I definitely want to visit!
Places I’ve tried:
74 W Illinois St, Chicago, IL 60654
2546 N Clark St, Chicago, IL 60614
A friend recently asked me what my go-to healthy snacks are. Here is a list of my favorites that I shared! Comment below if you would like me to write more health & fitness-related posts!
Quest Protein Bars
Kind Breakfast Bars
After reading this month’s issue of Shape magazine, here are a few things I learned and wanted to share!!
- You should throw away your hairbrush after a year because of the bacteria buildup.
- Eyelash and eyebrow shampoo exists haha.
TREAT YO SELF. It’s a phrase we hear all the time. Yet, do we actually take the time to do things that are good for our mental, physical, and emotional, and spiritual health? Below is a list of items to try out… XOXO, Miranda.
